Steven Anderson is running as a candidate for Sheriff of Callaway County. The Kingdom of Callaway, as it’s often been called, has a rich and inspiring history, full of stories of strong willed lawmen that risked all to protect the citizens from the lawless. Steve says that is his vision to make Callaway County into the safest place to live and to raise a family.
Says Mr. Anderson, “My family settled in Callaway County in 1830. My parents, Ollie Eugene (Gene) Anderson and Alma Margret Marsch raised their family in Fulton. I attended FHS and graduated in 1975. I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1975 as a Law Enforcement Specialists, serving four years. I was honorably discharged in 1979 as a Sergeant. I was a police officer for the Fulton Police Dept. for 24 years, six years of that service was a Sergeant. For a time during my service to Fulton, I was a reserve officer while also being employed by the Callaway Nuclear Plant Security. I served as an elected member of the Callaway County Ambulance Board for five years. Most recent employment has been with the Missouri Department of Corrections for over five years. I am a Columbia College graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I reside in Millersburg with my wife, Lisa Anderson, five beautiful children, two grandkids, one great grandchild, and five rescued dogs.”
Because of his strong ties to the community, Anderson believes that, “It is my vision to make Callaway County into the safest place to live and to raise a family. I will not make promises that I cannot keep . . . but my COMMITMENT to you as your Sheriff will be:
First, that I will be part of the community and will give back to the community…Secondly, I will work 40 plus hours every week. I will be accessible to everybody! Finally, I will be committed 100% to the job and duties of Sheriff and will not neglect my post.”
